Working remotely doesn't have to mean working from home: 4 reasons why you'll thrive in a coworking community

It’s been more than a year since you were sent home from the office and tossed into a remote work environment filled with Zoom calls, not having to get dressed in the morning and setting up shop at your makeshift home office. Along with that, you may have been faced with a new sense of loneliness, a loss of productivity, and missing your normal social interaction. While working from home has perks like flexibility, freedom and autonomy, it can be kind of a downer with the lack of in-person human connection and difficulties staying on task with the ever-present distractions of being at home.

Joining the Gravitate Coworking community is the answer to both; improve upon all the things you love about not reporting to the office each day while solving all those WFH issues.

Community

Becoming part of a coworking space offers a sense of belonging and community that you just can't achieve virtually as a remote worker. Having social interaction and human connection really helps ward off loneliness and feelings of isolation and can improve mental health (even if the interaction and connections are happening from six feet away and behind a mask).

The Gravitate spaces are populated with workers and entrepreneurs from all sorts of industries and types of business. You’re bound to find something in common with just about everyone and can always catch interesting conversations happening in the kitchen or near the front desk. Being around a diverse group is a great way to network and allows everyone to bounce ideas off of one another too. Make a friend or even a future business partner!

Productivity

Research shows that getting out of the house and having a place to focus on your work can greatly improve your productivity too. According to a Global Coworking Unconference Conference survey, 84% of respondents said that working in a coworking space makes them feel more motivated.

That same survey shows that 69% of respondents obtained new skills and 68% of respondents improved their existing skills since they joined a coworking space.

Separating your work from your home also lets your residence be a place of rest and relaxation, where work can be “turned off,” offering better work-life balance. Implementing this separation can decrease stress and the likelihood of work burnout. This too can help your productivity as you’re less stressed and have a more positive attitude about your work.

As one of our members who recently returned to Gravitate after a year of working from his home, “Working from a coworking space rather than working at home allows my home to be a sanctuary that I can come to and put work behind me.”

Flexibility

One of the best things about remote work is that you can feel more empowered to structure your day in the way that makes the most sense for you, and your coworking membership can be an added layer to that. Gravitate Coworking’s locations are open 24/7 to our members, so if you prefer to work in the early morning, late at night, or even during “normal” business hours, the space and community are available to you. No matter what your schedule looks like, you can come in and get to work.

If you’re not wanting to be out of the house every day but still would like to try a more productive environment a couple times a week or even just a couple times a month—we can make that easy for you too. Gravitate has short-term options such as single Day Passes and 10-Day Punch Cards available as well as our traditional monthly unlimited access memberships. Our unlimited access memberships are billed month-to-month and have no minimum duration or long term commitment.

Amenities

Spending time in a coworking space gives you access to all the amenities of your old office without having to purchase them yourself or find room for them in your home. Membership at Gravitate includes access to a variety of work environments like standing desks, seated desks, couches and other soft furniture, harvest tables, booths/cubbies, kitchen counter seating, etc. and very nerdy-cool sound-insulated phone booths for private calls or the occasional podcast recording. You’ll have access to meeting rooms of all capacities, for those times when you do need to meet a colleague or client(s) in person.

Gravitate can help take care of all the back-office things you need to do your work too, with super high speed fiber internet, mail and package services, printers and even an on-site notary. Locally roasted coffee, a variety of tea, and local craft beer is always on tap, as well.

You can use the things you need to make your work day more productive—or just more enjoyable—without having to find space for them in your home.

Whatever your reason for wanting to get out of the house and get work done, Gravitate is here and waiting for you with a (masked) smile, hot cup of coffee and fast internet.
